About Us
The formation of the ITFH grew out of a major conference on homelessness at St. Mark’s Cathedral in April 2001, Creating the Political Will to End Homelessness. The 350 religious and community representatives who attended the conference created a 4-step Action Plan to end homelessness in King County in ten years. Action #1 of the plan envisioned the organization of a Task Force to coordinate the work of the religious community for the sole purpose of achieving the goals stated, using the theme, “Creating the political will to end homelessness in King County.” The ITFH was officially convened in December 2001 under the auspices of St. Mark’s Cathedral and has been meeting since that time. Thirty to forty persons representing a broad cross-section of the religious community have been participating as its de-facto board. In 2005 a highly successful Political Will 5 event was held on the Eastside in Bellevue, entitled, Affirming Charity, Compassion, and Justice. Actions and a curriculum ensuing from that event will form the 2006 strategies. In 2006, the Political Will 6 event was titled, Making the Ten Year Plan Real. The event was held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Seattle. In 2007 our PW7 event will be held September 18, 2007, in Des Moines WA. Click link below or to your left!
